The Royal Academy of Sciences, the InterAcademy Medical Panel (IAMP) and Karolinska Institutet (KI) are organizing a conference/workshop titled “Educating Health Professionals for a New Century” on Friday, 28 September 2012 at Nobel Forum at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. The Lancet Commission report has been an important source of inspiration for the conference.

Commission co-chair Julio Frenk, Dean of the Harvard School of Public Health, will outline report findings and recommendations via video. Two other Commission members will take part: Prof Zulfi Bhutta (a KI alum) will talk on "Integrating medical, nursing and public health education"
and Prof David Serwadda, former Dean of the Makerere School of Public Health in Uganda, will present on “Working together – the KI-Makerere collaboration.”

The aim of the day is to initiate a process for the development of the education of health professionals in the Nordic countries, taking into account the continuously changing global health situation. The participants include KI leadership as well as high level participants from other Nordic universities.
