Transforming Medical Education Theme of Asia Pacific Conference
Stimulated by the Lancet Commission report, the theme for the 9th Asia Pacific Medical Education Conference held on 13-14 January 2012 was "Transformative Medical Education for Healthcare Professionals in the 21st Century: Nurturing Lifelong Habits of Mind, Behaviour and Action." Featured as part of the two-day main conference was a presentation of the report findings by one of the members of the global independent commission, Jordan J. Cohen, MD, who is Professor of Medicine at George Washington University and President Emeritus of the Association of American Medical Colleges. “The report has clearly elicited great interest and has created a lot of buzz,” reports Dr. Cohen, who was impressed with the enthusiasm of the more than 600 attendees at the conference, which was held at the National University of Singapore. This conference provides an international perspective on medical education and networking opportunities for speakers and participants to exchange information and opinions.
